November 2019 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Players [plus MYMS Staff and Committee Members]

MYMS Email Addresses – linked to the new website, we have also reorganised the MYMS email addresses.  You can therefore now correspond with me using manager@myms.org.uk

Signing In and Signing Out – FOR ALL STUDENTS WHO ARE IN YEAR 11 OR YOUNGER

On the concert day, we are are continuing with our safeguarding arrangement for all MYMS students who are either in Year 11 or younger [ALL students in Year 12 and Year 13 are excluded from this].

We will again need all students [Y11 or younger] to sign in when they arrive – including all Invicta GS students who are there already – and to sign out if they leave to go home for tea and/or to get changed.  They will need to sign in again when they return for the concert and sign out if they leave BEFORE the end of the concert.

At the end of the concert, we will close the registers.  The registers [which will be in alphabetical order] will be supervised by a colleague Gill Weston.  This is part of our safeguarding arrangement for all the students so please ask your child/children to assist us with this process.  Gill will be at a desk in the canteen area.

Before the Concert – depending on the timings of their dress rehearsal(s), players may need to have a packed tea.

PLEASE ask them to eat it in the canteen and NOT in one of the school classrooms.

Players need to be back at Invicta in their green rooms in their concert dress by 7:15 p.m.  They will be told which are their green rooms on the day.

During the Concert – all students will be in one of three places – they will be onstage, queuing outside the Hall getting ready to go on stage with their conductors [and instruments] or sat at the back of the Hall;  no students are to be in the Green Rooms].

MYMS Annual General Meeting – Notice is given that the 45th MYMS AGM will be held at c. 7:10 p.m. on Friday 29 November 2019 in the Hall at Invicta GS just before the Winter Concert begins.  The paperwork for the meeting is being concluded at the moment and will be placed on the new MYMS website – www.myms.org.uk – over the weekend.  This will include the Agenda [see below, at the bottom of this email], the Minutes of last year’s AGM and this summer’s Second General Meeting, the Manager’s Report and the Accounts and Treasurer’s Report.  If anyone wishes to raise any other business, notice of that should be sent in writing in advance of the AGM to Polly Williamson on secretary@myms.org.uk  or to me on my new email address of manager@myms.org.uk

MYMS Raffle – Any donations of raffle prizes would be gratefully received.  Please bring them with you on the day of the concert.
